We all go through times in our lives where we feel hopeless and lost - I went through mine a few years ago, so I began to make some changes. I really believe that it was these changes that began the start of my new life. So here is my easily achievable list of 10 Ways to Detox your Life - Start today.

Cutting all remaining ties to any sources of negativity is definitely the first step you can take. It's almost impossible to start a new chapter in your life if you're still being held back by the same things. Whether this be negative habits, people or thoughts. Make an effort to focus on what they are, or maybe even write them down - And make a conscious effort to avoid and rise above them. Nothing has the ability to effect you unless you let it, so take control.

Finding a hobby is another crucial element to turning over a new leaf. Discovering something you love to do can help a lot! It can be hard to find a passion if you don't know what you enjoy, but a good way to find out is through trial and error. Start doing things you tried before, e.g. drawing, blogging, writing - You may suprise yourself. Then make an effort to take time out of your day to do this as much as you can and just remember to enjoy yourself and fill your time with things you love to do!

Your own personal source of relaxation is great to have. Whether it be an activity like meditation or yoga, that will help with your health and mental peace. Or things as simple as reading and writing, which are things you can enjoy and personalise. As long as it's something that will help to calm your mind and settle your thoughts, even just for a few minutes a day - I really recommend it!

Clear out your space, de clutter your life and get organised. There's nothing more stressful than a messy living area. Avoid hoarding pointless objects, and cut down on your 'stuff' - Living light is a very good way to be. Avoid attachments to things and objects..

Day Planners are a very good way to get organised. Set yourself little weekly goals and achievements. Don't let yourself waste days and weeks doing nothing. Force yourself to do things by writing down activities for certain times, and do them without any excuses. The key for a more positive and fulfiiled life is experience, and if (like me) you are quite lazy, then a planner is a great way to make sure you're making the most of your days.

Look after yourself! None of these previous suggestions will matter unless you're taking care of yourself. I'm not saying you have to be a vegetarian and go to the gym everyday. Because this can be quite hard to achieve, depending on what type of person you are. Take it step by step - Try walking more instead of buses, or try to invest in some fairtrade food, maybe even try to master some vegan meals. Start using healthy and natural products on your skin. Your body is your temple and you need to take as much care of it on the inside as you do on the outside.

Simplify your life and simplify your problems. The start of a lot of suffering comes from letting things get on top of you. Take time to think and assess your life - Is anything really that bad? Do you need to feel like this? Why are you making yourself feel this way? Coming to terms with what is actually having an impact on you, is essential when trying to resolve your negative feelings. Always put things in to perspective and remember we are all just humans flowing through our lives, and although we don't control what happens to us, we can control how we react to things.

Don't wait around for things to happen to you. Don't complain that you have nothing to do. Make your own adventures and make your own memories. You don't have to travel the world in order to grow and build yourself as a person, all you need is an open mind and a free spirit. There's things right on your front door step waiting to be experienced, and it's your choice to see these things and grasp them. Try dedicating a day to getting to know your own little part of the world, even if you're only 10 minutes from home, explore and seek adventure, because if you're not content where you are now, then you won't be content anywhere else in the world. It all comes from within and travel is a state of mind.

Start your own personal journal. Start writing down your inner thoughts and feelings. It's a great way to track your spiritual growth. You can note down times you have used certain elements of your practices and times you should have used them better. It can help you get to know yourself more and help you develop a better relationship with your thoughts.

Starting the journey of Buddhism can be very daunting in the beginning, there's all these new teachings and practices to learn. So a good first step is to stick to one practice a day. It will help you to master each one more thoroughly and quickly. So pick a teaching that closely relates to an experience you may be curently having, and research it - learn it's history and what your aims are and then try to incoperate it in to your day.
So these are my 10 keys to detoxing your life, even if you only wish to try out one of two of these techniques - I hope they're able to help you along your path.
